·       There have been some changes to the badminton tryouts this week. They are written down by the gym.

·       SIS hosted the PEISAA intermediate basketball provincials this past weekend. The boys fell just short in their bronze medal game. The girls were able to take home bronze this year. Good season. Thanks for all your time and dedication. Please start returning your uniforms.

March 6

Unfortunately, both the boys and girls AA teams lost their semi-final games last night. They now play for bronze on Friday.

·       Badminton tryouts start next week. Girls are Monday at lunch and boys are Tuesday at lunch.  All tryout and practice times for the season can be found down by the gym and on the SIS Instagram page.

·       There will be a basketball timers and scorers meeting just before recess today . Wait to be called out. Only the students working the basketball provincials this weekend need to come.

·       A reminder that snowshoeing and the outdoor rink are options today and tomorrow for grades 8 & 9 during Phys-ed class. If any student is interested in this, they must be prepared with helmet and skates for the rink, and boots/winter coats/snow pants for snowshoeing

Our A boys and girls teams each played 3 competitive games each and showed they can compete with all teams from the rest of the province. A big thanks to the timers and scorers, the tournament cannot happen without you. Also, thanks to the students who sold admission tickets. There will be pizza for you this Thursday at lunch.

January 18th

We had 94 students playing ball hockey intramurals and hope to get even more participation in soccer.

  • Today’s basketball games:  **A boys and A girls travel to Miscouche  **AA girls play Queen Charlotte as part of the Stonepark Tournament. Members of the AA Girls team will be called from class at 2:30.  **AA Boys team also play Queen Charlotte as part of the Stonepark tournament this weekend. Go Owls!!!!

  • There will be a basketball timers and scorers meeting today at recess. All must attend.

December 4th

  • Open gym today at lunchtime. Intramural ball hockey starts tomorrow so be sure to check the schedule today to see when your team is playing.
  • The Glenn Edison Memorial tip off basketball tournament was a success. The girls did not win a game, but two of their games were only lost by a couple points. The boys had a good weekend with a record or 2-1. A big thank you to the timers and scorers as the tournament could not happen without you.  Timers and scorers who worked this weekend, please see Mr. Connell for your money. Also, thanks to the students who sold admission tickets at the door. There will be pizza for you on Friday.
  • There are no home games this week.  There will a timers and scorers meeting at the end of the week so please listen carefully to the announcements for a meeting time and place.

December 1st

  • Open gym today at lunchtime.   The intramural ball hockey schedule has been posted outside the gym. Please be sure to check to see what days your team plays.

  • Yesterday’s Basketball Game Results: The AA girls team lost to East Wiltshire 24-23 and the AA boys team beat Eastwiltshire 62-40.

  • The Glenn Edison memorial tip off basketball tournament starts today. SIS girls play at 3:00 and the boys at 7:30. For staff and students who don’t know who Glenn Edison was, he was a principal/coach here at SIS for many years and he passed away in 2014. He had a deep passion for the student/athlete, so in his honor the tip off basketball tournament was named after him.

November 30th

  • Open gym today at lunchtime. Today is the last day to get ball hockey teams registered.  The ball hockey schedule will be posted tomorrow with play starting on Tuesday.

  • Today’s Games:  AA boys and girls teams host East Wiltshire today with games starting at 4:30pm and 6:00pm.

November 29th

  • Open gym today at lunchtime. 
  • Ball hockey teams are due tomorrow. If you want to play, and don’t have a team, see Mr. Connell or Mr. MacAvin.  They will do their best to find a team for you to join.
  • Yesterday’s Results:  SIS basketball teams had a a good start to the season with the A girls’ team defeating Ecole Sur Mer 33 to 29.  The A boys’ team won their game against Ecole Sur Mer by a score of 63 to 17.

November 28th

  • Open gym today at lunchtime.

  • A reminder that ball hockey intramural sheets are due this Thursday.

  • There will be another basketball timers and scores meeting today at 11:50am.  Please wait to be called out of class before leaving for the meeting.

November 27th

Novermber 15th

  • No open gym today at lunchtime. The next intramural sport is ball hockey and you can pick up team registration sheets outside the office.
  • A girls basketball players can pick up uniforms today at recess in the fitness room.

  • A boys basketball players can pick up uniforms today at the beginning of lunch in the fitness room.

  • There is information posted outside the gym regarding an opportunity for boys to try field hockey this Saturday 2:00-3:30 at the CUP DOME. The session is free and you can see Mr. Connell if you are interested.

  • There is a meeting today at lunch for basketball timers and scorers. All those who expressed an interest in working as a timer and/or scorer must attend.

Novermber 14th

  • No open gym today. Last day for volleyball. Sharks and bombs .com are not playing. Next intramural is ball hockey. Team registration forms are down by the gym.

  • There is information down by the gym about two winter programs- Cross country learn to ski and basic biathlon training.

November 9th

  • The roster for those who are asked to attend the next A boys and A girls basketball team tryouts are posted outside the gym. The next tryout for the A boys team is today from 7:00-8:30pm. and the girls A team's next tryout will be tomorrow from 3:30-5:00pm.

  • The Holland College Hurricanes are hosting the Womens Soccer National Championships this weekend. The championships started last evening with some games played in Charlottetown. There will be some games being played at the CUP turf in Summerside. Please see Mr.Connell or Mr.McAvinn for game passes or weekend passes if you are interested in attending any of the games.

November 8th

  • Results:  SIS cross country runners did a terrific job competing at the provincials this past weekend. All runners braved the poor weather conditions and represented their school extremely well.   • Yesterday’s Results:  **AA Girls soccer lost to Stonepark in a playoff game. This ends the season for the team. Thanks to all team members for your effort and commitment.  **A Girls blue volleyball lost a competitive match to MEC. This was the last game of their regular season. They do have a tournament next weekend.  The team had a great season and showed. Wonderful improvement.

  • Cross Country runners are asked to stay in the cafeteria after morning recess and await the arrival of their bus for their zone meet at Cabot park today. Make sure you have everything needed for the run and best of luck to all runners!

  • Leadership students who have not yet handed in their permission forms to help out at the cross country zone meet today need to get those in to Mr. McAvinn ASAP before boarding the bus this morning. These leadership students who are attending are asked to make sure you have everything needed and be ready in the cafeteria to board the bus at 9:00am

  • Due to some students not putting the equipment away, the gym will no longer be open in the mornings - until further notice. This has been an issue since the start of the school year.
  • Intramurals today will be open gym shoot around (No fitness room today). Volleyball intramurals will continue tomorrow so make sure to check the schedule down in the PhysEd area to see which teams play.

October 3rd

  • Intramural volleyball starts today. We will have an open gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. Volleyball will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • The SIS baseball team had a double header last night in Charlottetown. The team won both of the games by scores of 7-6 and 1-0 against Stonepark and Morell.

  • Most flag football teams have a way to communicate with their coaches in terms of practices. Many practices this week will be indoors. Communicate with your coaches about this. The only team who does not have this set up yet is grade 7 girls. So, no grade 7 girls flag football practice today and practice tomorrow 4:45-6:00 in the gym.

  • Softball tryouts Thursday 3:30-5:00. Practice is scheduled for the Gordie Arsenault Field.  If there is inclement weather, practice will be in the gym from 3:30-5:00.  Listen for an announcement regarding the practice location.

March 14th

  • Boys Badminton today 3:30-5:00pm.  Today will the last day that practice times will be included in the announcements.  After today, players will be expected to remember practice times without reminders.
  • Anyone interested in trying lacrosse, there is a free session this Friday from 6:00-8:00 at the dome. Information about this session is posted by gym on the bulletin board.

March 13th

  • Basketball Results: Two tough losses for our AA teams last night in their semi- final games. The boys loss was especially tough as they lost by just 2 points. Both teams now play Friday for Bronze at Birchwood. The girls team at 5:30 and boys team at 7:15.

February 7th

  • Yesterday's Basketball Results:  *AA boys and girls beat Eastwiltshire and have earned a spot in the semi finals next Tuesday.  * A girls lost to Pierre Chaisson and A boys beat Englewood. This unfortunately ends both teams' seasons. Big thanks to coaches Todd MacEwen, Ms. Parker , Mrs. DesRoches and Mr. Kenny. Players are asked to return their jerseys ASAP.
  • Congratulations to the SIS Girls Gymnastics team who had three members qualify for provincials.
