May 21

·      Intramurals - open gym

·      Track and Field - SIS had a good showing on Friday at the Zone Track and Field meet @ UPEI. SIS finished 1st in all divisions - Bantam boys and girls,as well as Intermediate boys and girls. Results will be posted down by the gym. Today’s practices for athletes who advanced to the provincials - Optional running practice (Thursday will be practice for all distance runners and relay) and today all Throwing events. Tomorrow - long and triple jump.

·      Softball - Bus leaves at 3pm today for your game against Hernewood. Please wait to be called out.

·      Flag football - The following teams play today Dolphins, Colts, Patriotes, and KC

  • Track and Field - High jump, throwing events and running today. Still waiting for a few permission forms to be turned in.

·      Track and Field- Long and triple jump. Also all permission forms need to be in by Wednesday. This includes all Leadership forms.

·      Flag football - there are still a few Grade 8 flag football players that need their forms in by tomorrow in order to play and grade 7s for your games on Thursdays.

·      Softball - next tryout will be Tuesday 3:30-5:00pm at the Gordie field

·      The grade 9 girls flag football team are asked to go to the gym at recess to pick up your uniforms and permission forms. The first 2weeks of flag football games are posted down by the gym.

·      Next Flag football tryouts are tomorrow 3:30-5:00pm at the Turf. The grade 9 girls team will be posted down by the gym later today. 

·      Softball tryouts today 3:30-5:00pm. Most likely will happen in the gym.

·      School Triathlon - there is information down by the gym about a school Triathlon for students. If you have questions, please see Mr. Connell.

·      Track and Field practices today at lunch - all  throwing events and high jump in the gym. Running events are cancelled.

 

April 29

·      Intramurals - open gym

·      Track and Field practices today - Long and triple jump and all running events. If you are running and jumping, go to jumping today. Tomorrow, all throwing events, running and high jump.

·      Softball tryouts tomorrow 3:30-4:45pm They will most likely be in the gym so  players will need to be prepared for both indoor and outdoor try outs. Outdoor tryouts will be at the Gordie.

·      Flag football tryouts today 3:30-5:00pm Due to the expected weather today, tryouts will be in the Dome. Students can walk down to practice after school.

 

April 26

·      Intramurals - open gym

·      Flag football tryouts start Monday 3:30 – 5:00pm at the turf. Please wear cleats if you have them and shorts with no pockets. Mouthguards are mandatory this year but you don’t need one for tryouts, only if you make the team.

·      Track and Field Monday - long and triple jump and running events.

·      There is information down by the gym about U16 provincial Field Hockey tryouts.

 

April 25

  • Intramurals – today there will be a couple of courts available for badminton. Tomorrow we will start open gym shoot around.
  • There is badminton practice today at lunch for the two girls doubles teams going to provincials on Saturday.
  • Track and Field today- all throwing events, all runners who are on the list posted down by the gym and high jump in the gym.
  • Flag football tryouts start Monday - 3:30-5:00pm at the turf. Students will walk down to the turf.
  • Softball tryouts Tuesday - 3:30-5:00pm at the Gordie field

April 24

·      A big congratulations to all of our badminton players who represented SIS extremely well at Provincials last night. A special congratulations to Lexi MacDonald, Iyesah Cornejo, Claire Heer and Keira Waugh who have advanced to the championships this coming Saturday hosted here at SIS, Well done!

·      Can Lexi MacDonald, Iyesah Cornejo, Claire Heer and Keira Waugh please come and see Mr. McAvinn after morning announcements with their teachers’ permission.

·      Track and Field practices today - All throwing events, long and triple jump. Ms. Ryder will be posting a list of the runners down by the gym she would like to see tomorrow. If you are trying out for running be sure to check the list later today. Also, tomorrow is high jump in the gym and throwing events.

April 23

April 22

·      Intramurals - badminton

·      Track and Field practices start today. All running events, long jump and triple jump. Tomorrow will be high jump and running events. All athletes will meet down by the gym and then go to their perspective practice areas. Long and triple jump will be walking to TOSH so they need to be quick to get down here. Throwing events will not happen tomorrow as scheduled, they will now take place on Wednesday.

·      Flag football tryouts start next Monday. Be sure to sign up down by the gym if you plan to tryout.

·      Badminton practice today for all players going to provincials tomorrow. Practice is over at 4:30pm

·      Softball sign-up sheet is also up by the gym. Tryouts will start next week.

·      There is information down by the gym for upcoming field hockey camps.

 

April 18

·      Intramurals - badminton

·      Another good day of Zone badminton yesterday – at Intermediate doubles, Ben MacGregor and Malcom James finished 3rd, Quinn Praught and Nathan Martin finished 2nd and have advanced to provincials. Yonna Arida and Dani-Lynn Cole finished 3rd, Iyesha Cornejo and Lexi MacDonald finished 1st and have advanced to provincials. In Bantam girls doubles, Clair Heer and Keira Waugh finished first and advanced to provincials. Zone  badminton finishes today with Bantam boys doubles at SIS. Players will be called out at 2:50pm. There will be a practice Monday 3:15-4:30 for all players who advanced to provincials.

·      Flag football and girls softball sign up sheets are up down by the gym.

·      Track  and Field starts Monday with Long Jump, triple jump and all running events. If you are running and jumping go to running on Monday but let Mr. Connell know. Complete schedule is down by the gym.

 

April 17

·      Intramurals - badminton

·      SIS had another good night at Badminton Zones. We have two players moving on to Bantam singles next Tuesday - Claire Heer and Ashwin Baskaran.

·      Today is Intermediate doubles at SIS, teams will be called out at 2:50pm. Bantam girls doubles are at Athena and players will be called out at 2:30pm

·      Tomorrow is Bantam boys doubles at SIS.

·      Flag football sign-up sheet is up down by the gym.

·      Track and Field starts Monday. Here is the schedule. High jump – Tuesdays and Thursdays in the gym. Long and triple jump – Mondays and Wednesdays at TOSH. Throwing events - Tuesdays and Thursdays. Running events - Day 1,3,4 and 5. You may not run all four days, depending on the distances you are trying out for. Whole schedule can be found down by the gym.

 

April 16

·      Intramurals - badminton

·      SIS had a good showing at the Intermediate Zones for badminton last night. Girls - Iyesah Cornejo 3rd, Lexi MacDonald 1st and Boys - Malcom James 3rd, Ben MacGregor 2nd and Nathan Martin 1st. Lexi, Ben and Nathan have all qualified for provincials next Tuesday.

·      Today is Bantam Zones singles - players please wait to be called out early from class.

·      Track and Field starts next week. Still not too late to still sign up. The practice schedule is posted down by the gym. High Jump will be Tuesdays and Thursdays in the gym. Long jump and triple jump will be Mondays and Wednesday at TOSH. ALL throwing events will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Running will be days 1,3,4 and 5. All practices will be at lunch.

Unfortunately, both the boys and girls AA teams lost their semi-final games last night. They now play for bronze on Friday.

·       A reminder that snowshoeing and the outdoor rink are options today and tomorrow for grades 8 & 9 during Phys-ed class. If any student is interested in this, they must be prepared with helmet and skates for the rink, and boots/winter coats/snow pants for snowshoeing

  • The Glenn Edison Memorial tip off basketball tournament was a success. The girls did not win a game, but two of their games were only lost by a couple points. The boys had a good weekend with a record or 2-1.   • The Glenn Edison memorial tip off basketball tournament starts today. SIS girls play at 3:00 and the boys at 7:30. For staff and students who don’t know who Glenn Edison was, he was a principal/coach here at SIS for many years and he passed away in 2014. He had a deep passion for the student/athlete, so in his honor the tip off basketball tournament was named after him.

November 30th

  • Yesterday’s Results:  **AA Girls soccer lost to Stonepark in a playoff game. This ends the season for the team. Thanks to all team members for your effort and commitment.  **A Girls blue volleyball lost a competitive match to MEC. This was the last game of their regular season. October 4th

  • Cross Country runners are asked to stay in the cafeteria after morning recess and await the arrival of their bus for their zone meet at Cabot park today. Make sure you have everything needed for the run and best of luck to all runners!

  • Leadership students who have not yet handed in their permission forms to help out at the cross country zone meet today need to get those in to Mr. McAvinn ASAP before boarding the bus this morning. These leadership students who are attending are asked to make sure you have everything needed and be ready in the cafeteria to board the bus at 9:00am

  • Due to some students not putting the equipment away, the gym will no longer be open in the mornings - until further notice. This has been an issue since the start of the school year.
  • Intramurals today will be open gym shoot around (No fitness room today). Volleyball intramurals will continue tomorrow so make sure to check the schedule down in the PhysEd area to see which teams play.

October 3rd

  • Intramural volleyball starts today. The following teams play - Aces, Sharks,The Freezies, Triple gits, Getty Diggy with It, Swing and Miss, The Flamingos, and The Bombs.com.  Play starts at 12;15. We will have an open gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. Volleyball will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • The SIS baseball team had a double header last night in Charlottetown. The team won both of the games by scores of 7-6 and 1-0 against Stonepark and Morell.

  • Today’s Games  **Field Hockey visits Birchwood - bus leaves at 3:30

      **Soccer - AA boys and girls host Stonepark  - A girls host Hernewood on the Turf

  • Track and Field today - High Jump in the gym. Tomorrow - all running and throwing events. Anyone who missed yesterday must attend tomorrow.

  • Most flag football teams have a way to communicate with their coaches in terms of practices. Many practices this week will be indoors. Communicate with your coaches about this. The only team who does not have this set up yet is grade 7 girls. So, no grade 7 girls flag football practice today and practice tomorrow 4:45-6:00 in the gym.

  • Softball tryouts Thursday 3:30-5:00. Practice is scheduled for the Gordie Arsenault Field.  If there is inclement weather, practice will be in the gym from 3:30-5:00.  Listen for an announcement regarding the practice location.

  • Yesterday's Basketball Results:  *AA boys and girls beat Eastwiltshire and have earned a spot in the semi finals next Tuesday.  * A girls lost to Pierre Chaisson and A boys beat Englewood. This unfortunately ends both teams' seasons. Big thanks to coaches Todd MacEwen, Ms. Parker , Mrs. DesRoches and Mr. Kenny. Players are asked to return their jerseys ASAP.
